Recently I picked up a copy of "The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide: How to Declutter, Organize, and Simplify Your Life" on my Kindle Fire based on the recommendation of a blog I read. I never thought that it would flip a switch in my life that would cause my wife to wonder who she married! But after thinking about it a little more I realized that much of what minimalism is about already fits well with my world view. Things like...

- Reduce the "stuff" in your life
- Eliminate debt
- Experiences (memories) over things
- Enjoy the moment
- Digitize

... and many more. I may decide to write more on the topic, but for now I would encourage you to grab a copy of the book. For me, the 1st half was where it was all at. The 2nd half gets a little monotonous, but still has a few gems.

Here are a few takeaways if you're interested...

Stop organizing your clutter. "Organization" is often a mask for hording when all you're doing is shoving a bunch of stuff into boxes.

Anything you use often, and which truly adds value to your life, is a welcome part of a minimalist household.

Surfaces (including the floor) are not for storage. Rather, surfaces are for activity, and should be kept clear at all other times.

Don't burden your heirs with the task of sorting through your clutter, and agonizing over its fate.
