gSyncit Rocks
By: Mark Jacobsen
How many of you out there rely on your calendar to let you know where you need to be and what you need to be doing? How many of you have a separate calendar at work and another at home? Does your significant other have a calendar too? What about your family?
So the question is how do you keep all those calendars in sync without cluttering your work calendar with personal appointments? I don't know about you, but I don't need or want my tee times or doctor appointments anywhere on my work calendar.
Of course, Google Calendar is a great way to create multiple calendars and color code everything so you can easily see your appointments for specific calendars, but that relies on you always using that. What if you have a PDA or if at work you get meeting notices that are automatically added to your calendar? Why would you want to have to enter those appointments twice? The whole point of that process is so that you don't have to re-enter the information every time you get a meeting notice, right?
Enter gSyncit. I have to admit I looked at a number of "free" solutions before giving gSyncit a try, but for the $10 it's one of the best pieces of software I've purchased in a while. Basically, gSyncit will automatically synchronize your Outlook calendar to a Google calendar and vice versa. Best of all, it's one of the few utilities that allow you to synchronize different Google calendars to Outlook categories. This is great for when you possibly maintain a personal and family calendar on Outlook at home via categories, but want them to show up as separate calendars in Google. It also works great because you can configure gSyncit at work to only synchronize with your work calendar, and have gSyncit at home synchronize all of your appointments (including work). Whatever your scenario, I'm sure gSyncit can handle it. Best of all, I found the setup options extremely intuitive and understandable (unlike in many of the "free" alternatives).
So, if you're looking for a little something to simplify your scheduling, give gSyncit a try: http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync
Note: I was not paid or given any incentive to write this piece. I just genuinely like the software and think it is well done.
